Tour of Local Markets + Trip to an Indigenous Community
Tour of Local Markets + Trip to an Indigenous Community
We'll meet at 8 am at Silvia's main park and kick off our tour of this charming Colombian city and its breathtaking surroundings.
First, we'll walk to a centrally located farmer's market full of local products. For an hour, we'll stroll among the stalls and observe the vibrant hustle and bustle in Silvia. We'll be able to sample a few tasty treats like fruit and bread before continuing the route to a handicraft market where we'll find jewelry, embroidery, hats, and many other products - the perfect souvenirs!
After finishing our shopping, we'll board a minibus and head to an orchard cultivated by the Misak people. Have you never heard of this pre-Hispanic indigenous community? We'll learn all about their customs and traditions while some locals from the village show us how they work their land. We'll also visit one of the houses in the village to learn more about the Misak lifestyle.
The next stop will be at the Casa Payán Cultural Center. We'll talk about the importance of plants for the Misak culture and explain how they use different species to make medicinal treatments. You'll also get to try a locally-made traditional drink.
Afterwards, we'll return to the vehicle and head over to Belen hill, a lookout point that will offer us incredible panoramic views of Silvia. Get your cameras ready!
We'll finish the tour between 2 and 3 pm back at the starting point.
