Hot springs, streams, viewpoints and even a waterfall await us on this excursion to the Puracé National Park. In addition, we'll get close to the peaks of this natural site to see the famous Andean condor - it'll be amazing!
Andean Condor Watching + Puracé National Park Tour
After picking you up at your hotel in Silvia at 6:40 am, we'll head to the Puracé National Natural Park. The bus ride will take us approximately two and a half hours.
We'll arrive at this special site located at more than 3400 metres ( 11155 feet) above sea level. From its summits, we'll do a bird-watching activity, keep your eyes peeled for the famous Andean condor. Did you know that it's one of the largest flying birds in the world? We'll tell you many interesting facts about this endangered species that appears on the coats of arms of Colombia, Ecuador, Chile and Bolivia.
After an hour of marvelling at the flight of the Andean condor, we'll continue exploring the landscapes of the Puracé National Park. The excursion will take us to the valley of frailejones, a typical plant species of the páramos, there are 90 varieties in the whole country!
The next stops will be at the waterfall of the Bedón river, the Andulbio lagoon and the wishing well. We'll enjoy the incredible crystal clear waters of these natural monuments and you'll have time to take hundreds of photos.
Finally, we'll visit the thermal baths of San Juan, a set of pools and rivers of hot waters that have interesting grey, turquoise, pink and green colours. We'll find out why!
Before returning to Silvia, we'll enjoy a delicious lunch consisting of fish, grilled meat or chicken. The dish will be accompanied by different side dishes such as rice, salad or 'patacones' twice-fried plantain chips, as well as a drink.
