Habarana Excursion
At 10 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Sigiriya and hit the road to the town of Habarana, about half an hour away.
Once we arrive at our destination, we'll change the tuk tuk for an ox-drawn cart, a local traditional means of transport that will take us to the shores of Habarana Lake. There, we'll get off the cart and climb aboard a boat for a ride across the waters of this beautiful artificial reservoir.
After a pleasant boat ride on the lake, we'll visit some rice fields to see first-hand how Asia's most widely used cereal grain is cultivated. You'll love strolling through the extensive rice fields!
Next, we'll return to the center of Habarana to meet a local family who will teach us how to prepare some of their traditional recipes. After the cooking class, we'll enjoy a delicious buffet lunch with rice, curry, fish, salad and papadam.
At the end of the excursion, we'll take you back to your hotel in Sigiriya, where we'll arrive at 1:30 pm.
