This 402-acre temple complex founded in the 12th century is one of the world's largest religious monuments. Discover the secrets of Angkor Wat, Bayon and Ta Prohm amongst other ancient temples.

Angkor Wat Private Tour Itinerary

After being picked up from your hotel in Siem Reap at your selected time, we'll drive to the north of the city, where the Angkor complex is located. This enormous city of temples was the capital of the Khmer Empire from its construction in the 12th century up until the 1400s, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Our guided tour will start at the monumental southern gate of Angkor Thom, or "Great City", where the last Khmer kings ruled before the Thai conquest in the 15th century. We'll explore the Bayon temple and admire the incredible bas-reliefs of smiling faces which decorate its walls, as well as visiting the three-tiered Baphuon Temple and marvelling at its enormous reclining Buddha.

Next, we'll head to Ta Prohm Temple, an ancient Buddhist monastery whose ruins are slowly being taken over by the surrounding jungle vegetation. Stroll amongst the crumbling stone walls and tropical trees growing out of them, and see if you recognise the setting: this mythical place was used in the filming of Tomb Raider.

We'll then take a well-earned break so you can have lunch, before travelling to Angkor Wat. The most important temple in the complex, it is also the only one which remained in use after the fall of the Khmer Empire in the 15th century. Designed to be the earthly representation of the Hindu centre of the universe, Mount Meru, it transformed into a Buddhist centre of worship from the end of the 12th century, and to this day you'll see Buddhist monks meditating in this unique architectural masterpiece.

After an unforgettable day exploring the fascinating temples watching of Angkor, we'll drop you back off at your hotel in Siem Reap.

Daytime Trip (8 am)

With this option, you'll enjoy the Angkor Temples with the sun high in the sky and enjoy the temples in the most traditional way. The itinerary will be the one mentioned above. We'll pick you up from your hotel in Siem Reap at 8:30 am and take you back at the end of the tour at 5 pm.
