Private 3 Day Tour of Angkor Temples
Private 3 Day Tour of Angkor Temples
Day 1
After being picked up from your hotel in Siem Reap, you'll head to Angkor Thom, entering though the south gate to catch your first glimpse of the archaeological site's exquisite examples of Khmer architecture. Admire the stunning Bayon Temple at the centre of the ancient city, the three-tiered temple of Baphuon and its enormous statue of Buddha.
We'll then make our way to Ta Prohm, one of Angkor's most unique temples, which over centuries of abandonment has been slowly taken over by nature. Roots and branches from the overgrowing jungle snake over its crumbling walls and columns, creating a truly magical scene. You might recognise it as a filming location from Tomb Raider!
Having been enchanted by Ta Prohm, we'll take a well-earned break for you to get some lunch ready for the afternoon's adventure.
After eating, we'll go to Angkor Wat itself, the world's largest religious monument. This incredible building has remained a place of worship since its foundation in the 12th century, and you'll see Buddhist monks meditating in its surroundings to this day.
At the end of the first day, we'll return to Siem Reap, where you'll be dropped off at your hotel.
Day 2
Having picked you up from your hotel in Siem Reap, we'll set off to Banteay Srei, or the "Citadel of Women". Built in the 10th century, the intricate details of the reliefs decorating this red sandstone temple can still be admired today. Its depictions of mythological scenes have led to its nickname as a "jewel of Khmer art".
After admiring the spectacular remains of Banteay Srei, we'll head to our next stop: Beng Mealea, a smaller shrine of the same stone located around an hour's drive away. We'll explore the crumbling temple, nowadays taken over by the overgown roots of the surrounding jungle, before visiting a quarry from which stone was cut in the 12th century.
It'll then be time for a well-deserved lunch break, and you'll have time to get food at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, we'll make a stop where you'll learn how to make a Cambodian delicacy: bamboo rice, before returning to your hotel in Siem Reap.
Day 3
At 2 pm on the third day of your tour, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Siem Reap and make our way to the port. Here, a boat will be waiting to take us to the floating village of Kampong Phluk. Throughout your journey, we'll have incredible views over Lake Tonlé Sap, the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia.
Reaching Kampong Phluk, we'll get to see the temple, school and houses built on bamboo stilts, and discover how the locals live in this unique setting. Our boat trip will continue cruising through the flooded forest and visiting the crocodile farm.
At the end of three unforgettable days exploring the temples of Angkor, we'll drop you back off at your hotel in Siem Reap for 6 pm.
