Embark on a full-day private trip to Zhouzhuang from Shanghai and discover its rich history which goes back nine hundred years as you explore its beautiful waterways, some of the oldest in China.
Itinerary
Meet your guide first thing in the morning at your hotel lobby and set off to Zhouzhuang, one of the most-visited towns in the outskirts of Shanghai. It is located only 80km away from “the Pearl of the Orient”.
Upon arrival in the “Venice of China”, you’ll discover its main attractions either on foot or by sailing along its numerous canals on a traditional gondola. Admire the many beautiful historic bridges and the long-established houses, some of which were founded nine hundred years ago. Most of Zhouzhuang was built during the Ming and Qing dynasties.
Some of the highlights include: Fuanqiao Bridge, built in 1355, Shuangqiao Bridge (Twin Bridges), Shen Mansion, Shen Wansan’s former house (first millionaire of the region). Then, head to Zhang Mansion (a little like Shen Mansion), Milou Tower, an ancient tavern, and the Chengxu Temple.
After spending a glorious day in this famous water town, head back to Shanghai. Your chauffeur will drop you off at your hotel or anywhere else in the city center around 7pm.
