Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the entrance to the Hengshan Garden Hotel, and from this hotel in central Shanghai, we'll make our way towards the so-called Venice of China.
After a journey of around 2 hours, we'll arrive at Suzhou, a Chinese city known for its canals. We'll start our tour of this picturesque city by visiting the Master of the Nets Garden. In this pastoral botanical area, a World Heritage Site, we'll discover how the Chinese landscape artists of the 12th century were able to combine art, nature and metaphysically inspired architecture in one place.
We'll then head to a restaurant in the historical centre for a traditional lunch including a typical local dish. After lunch, we'll go to the Suzhou Silk Mill to see how these silk fabrics are made.
The tour continues with a walk along Shan Tang, the most beautiful street in Suzhou. We'll walk along the banks of the canal to admire its traditional houses and enjoy the charm of its landscapes, which will surely remain engraved in your memory. This doesn't come as a surprise, as this place is also considered one of the most beautiful streets in the world.
After the tour of Shan Tang, you'll have an hour at your leisure in the centre of Suzhou to explore the charming historic centre at your own pace. You can take advantage of your stroll to have a typical tea and to buy some traditional lanterns or other local handicrafts.
Finally, we'll reconvene in the centre of Suzhou for our return to Shanghai, where we're scheduled to arrive at the meeting point 9 hours after pickup.
