Shanghai Guided Tour
Tour Details
When booking, you can choose one of the following routes. Each option includes hotel pickup from hotels in central Shanghai and an English-speaking guide. You can see the details of each option below.
Morning Tour (4 Hours)
After picking you up from your hotel in Shanghai at the indicated time, we'll head to our first stop: Jade Buddha Temple, the most famous Buddhist temple in Shanghai. Built during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, the temple is home to a priceless collection of Jade statues from Burma. We'll learn about the monks who currently live there, and how it hosts the Shanghai Buddhist Institute.
Next, we'll head to the Fresh Water Pearl Gallery, where we'll admire the process of pearl cultivation. From there, we'll head to People Square, a vast green space of plants and trees in the heart of the city where you can even feed some doves!
Afterwards, we'll head to the Shanghai Museum, a museum holding a collection of over 120,000 pieces from different historical periods in China including bronze ware, ceramics, paintings, calligraphy, sculpture, ancient Chinese coins, jade carving and ancient furniture. We recommend rending an audio guide to enhance the 1.5-hour visit to the museum.
Finally, after 4 hours, we'll drop you back to your hotel.
Start time: pickup for this tour begins at 8 am.
Afternoon Tour (4 Hours)
Having picked you up from your hotel in Shanghai at the indicated time, we'll head for a delicious typical Chinese lunch so you can try the local cuisine.
After lunch, we'll set off to explore the city's top sights. First, we'll visit the Yuyuan Garden, where you'll be awestruck by traditional pavilions and the magical ponds. Then, we'll head to Shanghai Old Street, where we'll see local businesses and restaurants. As we admire the architecture, we'll learn about the street's origins in the Ming Dynasty.
Next, we'll head towards the Bund, a symbol of the old and modern Shanghai and one of the city's most famous areas. Did you know that the 4-kilometre-long (2.4 mile) promenade used to be home to the city's financial and commercial centres?
We'll continue with a visit to the silk factory, where we'll learn about silk production in China since the 14th century. You'll also be able to buy some silk if you wish!
After driving along the former French Concession District, we'll enjoy a stroll through Shanghai's entertainment district, Xin Tian Di. The brick buildings on these two-square blocks have been preserved and transformed into trendy clubs, restaurants and boutiques. Here, you can have some free time to explore the area.
Finally, after 4 hours in total, we'll arrive back at your hotel.
Start time: pickup for this tour begins at 12:30 pm.
Full-Day Tour (8 Hours)
If you'd like to make the experience even more special, then this option if for you! After picking you up from your hotel, we'll follow the same itinerary as both of the previous options combined.
