Activity Options
When booking, you can choose between the following options. All of them start and end in front of Shanghai Fuxing Senior High School and include bike rental, helmets and an English-speaking guide.
Here are the differences between them:
4-Hour Day Tour
Once we're ready on the bikes, we'll start pedalling through the alleys of Shanghai, discovering a contrast between tradition and modernity. We'll start by taking in the architectural style of Shikumen, a curious blend of traditional Chinese and European design. We'll pass historic buildings housing shops, cafés and restaurants.
After enjoying this first part of the bike tour, we'll take a break to enjoy a snack. Afterwards, we'll enter Lu Xun Park in the Hongkou district. Here, we'll see locals flying kites, enjoying a stroll or a picnic.
Next, we'll continue to Yu Garden, a haven of peace since the Ming Dynasty. Located next to the City God Temple, this is one of the oldest gardens in the city.
4-Hour Night Tour
In this option, while the golden colours of the sunset appear over the city, we'll start pedalling in search of our first destination: the former Shanghai French Concession. There, we'll enter this charming neighbourhood, where we'll see the French influence of the 19th century. We'll pass art deco buildings and villas amidst beautiful groves of trees.
Afterwards, we'll head to Xintiandi, a leisure area in the heart of the city. Here, we'll see the unique Shikumen architecture, with renovated buildings housing restaurants, bookshops, townhouses and cafés. We'll pause for a post-ride snack.
Next, we'll head off in search of Nanjing Street—did you know it's the busiest shopping street in the world? We'll witness it for ourselves as we lose ourselves among the shops and buildings lit up with neon lights. Finally, we'll head to the British Concession and move along the Bund, where we'll see the impressive skyline of Shanghai until we reach the People's Square.
8-Hour Tour
If you want to explore the vibrant city of Shanghai in its entirety, this tour is ideal for you. In this case, we'll first head to the Bund, where we'll enjoy views of the Huangpu River and the skyscrapers. We'll then continue to the People's Square, where the past and the present intermingle.
Afterwards, we'll set out to visit the Duolon Road, known for its Republican-era architecture and the literary figures who once lived there. From there, we'll continue cycling through the French Concession, adorned with its tree-lined streets and elegant architecture. Our next destination will be the Japanese Concession, but not before passing through Lu Xun Park.
Hungry? Don't worry! We'll stop for a delicious lunch in one of the most beautiful spots in the city. After refuelling, we'll resume our tour and, when you least expect it, we'll arrive at an antiques market, where we'll find unique treasures in an authentic local atmosphere.
Next, we'll head to the bustling Nanjing Street as we approach the Hongkou Football Stadium, passing through Xintiandi as well—we won't miss a single corner of Shanghai!
The bike tour will take us past the Shanghai Postal Museum and the historic Waibaidu Bridge, also known as the Garden Bridge.
Finally, we'll arrive at the building of the Site of the First National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party, a historical place that marked a significant event in China.
