Tour Details

Do you love history? In that case, we'll meet at the designated time at 2층, 42 Muak-dong to kick off this tour of Deoksugung Palace, Seodaemun Prison, and Dilkusha. Throughout the tour, you'll learn about the impact of colonialism and how Korea has adapted to modern times.

We'll begin our route at Saedaemun Prison, a fundamental spot to understand Korea's fight for independence. Built during the Japanese occupation, this prison held numerous anti-colonial activists. It could hold up to 500 people! Here, we'll walk past the cells and sombre corridors as we get to know its history.

We'll also pass by a section of the Hanyangdoseong Wall, built in the 14th century during the Joseon dynasty. Not only did this wall protect the city, but it also marked the capital's limits. We'll follow in the footsteps of its ancient guards while we enjoy scenic views of Seoul's modern skyline. Photo time!

Afterwards, we'll visit Dilkusha, the historical house of Albert Taylor, an American journalist who played a key role in the Korean independence movement. Did you know that his place has turned into a symbol of resilience and international cooperation? We'll tell you why on this tour!

The visit will come to an end at Deoksugung Palace, one of the main royal residences of the Joseon dynasty. This building features a fascinating mix of typical Korean architecture and more contemporary styles —an interesting example of Korea's modernisation! We'll walk through its gardens and explore its constructions, ranging from traditional structures to those with neoclassical influences.

After a total of 3 hours and 45 minutes, this tour will come to an end.
