See the world's largest Buddhist and Hindu monuments on this tour to the temples of Borobudur and Prambanan. You'll discover pyramids, pagodas, and the fascinating history behind them!
Description
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Semarang and then drive through Central Java province for about 3 hours. Our first destination on the tour is the magnificent Borobudur temple, the largest Buddhist monument in the world!
We'll explore this grand pyramid, composed of nine platforms and covered by 504 statues of Buddha. Standing at the foot of the monument, we'll hear all about the legend of its origins. As we stroll along the ancient track that surrounds the temple, we'll learn why it's the most visited Buddhist pilgrimage site in Indonesia.
Ten minutes away, we'll find the enchanting temples of Pawon and Mendut. As we contemplate their stone structures, you'll learn why and how all three temples are connected. After this, you'll have 1 hour free for lunch on your own (not included).
We meet up again to set off for Prambanan, a stunning complex of over 200 Hindu temples. We'll walk through this city of stone and find out why the Sanjaya dynasty wanted it to be the largest Hindu temple in the world. Before we leave, we'll visit the foundation stone, placed in the year 856.
Finally, we'll accompany you to your hotel where our brilliant adventure concludes after 10 hours of excursion.
