National Park of Blue Eye + Fortress of Lekuresi Tour
National Park of Blue Eye + Lekuresi Castle Tour
We'll meet at Toena bookshop at 9 am, then we'll board a bus to take us to the Blue Eye lagoon in Albania. This stunning site of natural beauty has been declared a protected Natural Monument.
Once we reach our destination we’ll explore this beautiful area, you’ll be able to see Mali i Gjërë Mountain and the natural freshwater spring. The so-called Blue Eye spring is the largest and most impressive among the 18 freshwater springs in Mali i Gjere area. It got its name as it looks like a big blue eye, with spectacular shades of dark and light blue within. The spring is an impressive 50 metres (164 feet) deep and is surrounded by lush green vegetation.
We’ll also visit the ruins of Lekuresi Castle, whose origins are believed to date back to 1537 when Sultan Sulejmani commonly known as Suleiman the Magnificent, and the tenth and longest-reigning Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, attacked Corfu. The castle is located within the ruins of Lekuresi village, on the top of the hill, above the city of Saranda. Its strategic location gives incredible views of the whole bay of Saranda. From this spot, you can also see the road that leads to Butrint and the islands of Ksamil and the Island of Corfu.
Finally, we'll make our way back to the meeting point.
