If you're looking for things to do in Sao Paulo, we've got it covered! During our samba experience in the Paraisópolis Favela you'll try feijoada, a delicious traditional Brazilian dish.
Feijoada with Samba at the Paraisópolis Favela
At 9 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Sao Paulo and set off on our traditional experience. Let's go!
We'll drive to Paraisópolis, which is the second-largest favela in Sao Paulo. When we get there, we'll take a 3-hour guided tour through the narrow streets in the centre of the neighbourhood. We'll learn all about life in the favela, its culture, traditions and community spirit.
During our tour, we'll go to Berbela's mechanical workshop. This artist works with plastic and makes sculptures from motorbike parts and other materials that are often thrown away.
In addition, we'll pass by one of the most unique places in the area, Estevão's Stone House. Estevão himself is also known as the Gaudí of Paraisópolis. Here, we'll go through the rooms full of accessories and ordinary objects such as cups, saucers and plates, which are part of the structure of the house.
Anyone feeling peckish? After strolling through the streets of the neighbourhood, we'll come to the Bistro Mãos de Maria. This charming spot is located on the rooftop of a community association in the favela. Let's try some feijoada! This traditional, Brazilian dish consists of beans and salted pork and is usually accompanied by rice and oranges.
While we enjoy this delicious lunch, we'll listen to some live, samba music. If you like, you can even join in with some dancing.
Having spent 6 hours learning about another side of Sao Paulo, we'll return to your hotel and drop you off at 3 pm.
