Sao Paulo Coffee Estate Private Tour
Sao Paulo Coffee Estate Private Tour
We'll pick you up at 8 am at your hotel to set off for a coffee farm where we'll discover the secrets of Brazilian coffee culture.
After a 1 hour 30 minute drive, we'll arrive at our destination. There they'll be waiting for us to welcome us with a cup of coffee made at the farm. After tasting the delicious Brazilian coffee, we'll start the tour.
First, we'll go through the history of coffee, from its discovery to its arrival in Brazil in the 18th century. We'll learn about the importance of this product in the socio-economic development of the State of Sao Paulo and also of Brazil.
After this historical introduction, the practical part will follow. We'll learn about the process of growing and processing the beans by visiting different parts of the farm, including the coffee plantations and the machinery area. Today, this farm has more than one million plants.
We'll also discover the darker past of this place by visiting the old senzala. This building housed the slaves who worked on the estate until 1888, when slavery was abolished in Brazil.
Then we'll stop for lunch, cooked in a wood-fired oven, where you can choose from a variety of dishes such as rice and beans, pork or chicken stew, pumpkin quibebe, manioc polenta, feijoada, farofa or couscous. For dessert, you'll taste a pumpkin and papaya sweet, served in wine syrup.
You'll also have the opportunity to sample different types of ground coffee in a tasting, enjoying the earthy aromas of each variety. In the store, you can also buy all kinds of products such as coffee powder, coffee liqueur, pure or cinnamon cachaça, jams, honey and much more.
Afterwards, we'll head to a local hacienda that specialises in cheese production. Here, we'll see how cheese is made from both cow's and sheep's milk. We'll also have the chance to try some of their tasty products.
Finally, we'll return to Sao Paulo and drop you off at your hotel around 4 pm.
