São Joaquim Bike Tour
At the appointed time we'll meet at Praça João Ribeiro, located in the center of São Joaquim. From there we'll start a bike tour to visit the most emblematic points of this municipality in the state of Santa Catarina.
The first stop of this 7 km (4.3 mi) bike route will be Igreja Matriz, São Joaquim's main church. When we're in front of this temple, you'll be impressed by its façade built with basalt stone. To understand how this city developed economically, we'll then head over to the Monument to Manoel Joaquim Pinto. You'll learn all kinds of curiosities!
We'll continue the bike route at Praça Cesário Amarante and Praça João Ribeiro, where the trees freeze in winter, a unique landscape in one of the cities with the lowest temperatures in Brazil.
Pedaling our way around, we'll also visit the historic center of São Joaquim and the Municipal History Museum, an ideal place to learn about the past of the city, marked by the presence of colonizers, tropeirismo, and the cycle of wood in Brazil.
Of course, this bike tour of São Joaquim includes a stop at the Mirante dos Pinheiros, a viewpoint located on the outskirts of the city where can admire araucarias that reach up to 50 meters (164 feet) in height! While enjoying these views, we'll take the opportunity to rest and refuel with a bottle of water and apple chips.
Finally, after three hours, we'll conclude the tour at the starting point.
