Dramatised Tour of Napoleonic Santoña

Join us to travel back in time to beginning of the 19th century and disocer the past of this city. Napoleon Bonaparte himself will be waiting for us next to the Monument to Juan de la Cosa, right on the seafront promenade in Santoña.

We'll tour this beautiful Cantabrian town accompanied by the French general, who will tell us the history of the most iconic local forts. These include the forts of San Martín and San Carlos, which played a crucial role in protecting the bay of Santoña. However, we can't give you any more details, because Bonaparte himself wants to tell you his stories of battle!

Next we'll visit the interior of the fort of San Carlos to learn about its strategic function. Along the way, you'll have to keep up with the French emperor's military marching and be sure to stay attentive and pay attention to his soldierly instructions!

During the dramatised tour of Napoleonic Santoña we'll also find out why both the British and French flags are flying on the promenade. During the six years that the French occupation lasted in the town, the town was known as "the French or northern Gibraltar".

Finally, we'll conclude the tour in the centre of Santoña, where we'll say au revoir to Napoleon after an envigorating hour and a half together.
