Colours, jewellery, tobacco… all to come on this shopping tour around the markets in Santo Domingo. We'll also visit the Amber Museum and a Tobacco Factory.
Itinerary
We'll start the tour in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo. Whether you love shopping or not, this route will be incredibly interesting!
Firstly, we'll take you to the Amber Museum, founded in 1996, which recounts the history of this resin that is found in different caves on the island. In this gallery, you can admire the precious pieces of stone that come in different colours: from yellow to blue. You'll be amazed!
Do you like rum? Our next stop will be a distillery for this famous drink, where we'll learn about its production process.
We'll continue this shopping tour by heading to a colonial market to discover traditional handmade goods. Colourful paintings, wooden sculptures, musical instruments... we'll find all of this and much more! Of course, we'll also have time to stop at some souvenir shops and art galleries so that you can buy gifts.
Then, we'll visit a Tobacco Factory, where we'll learn how this famous product is made and about the importance of this industry in the Dominican Republic. Did you know that they make some of the best cigars in the world here?
To end the morning properly, we'll discover the famous Dominican cocoa at a local store. Then, we'll take you back to the initial meeting point to end this activity.
