Admire enchanting scenery on our day trip to Galicia's famous Rías Baixas. We'll also visit beautiful places such as Padrón, Arosa Island, Cambados, La Toja and Combarro. In addition, you'll be able to take a boat trip and taste mussels.
Description
Having picked you up at the indicated time from Rua dos Bautizados, 12 in Santiago de Compostela, we'll head to Padrón. The gateway to the Rías Baixas awaits!
Did you know that the remains of the apostle St. James arrived in Padrón by boat? We'll visit the church dedicated to this saint, which is where the "Pedrón" (a large stone) to which the boat was tied is located. While we're here, we'll take a walk along the Alameda to admire the statues of Rosalía de Castro and Camilo José Cela. After a 30-minute tour of Padrón, we'll continue our day trip by heading southbound.
Next, we'll arrive at the Pontevedra estuary: the smallest of the Rías Baixas. Here you'll find Combarro, where we'll see its iconic traditional Galician hórreos - fascinating! Here, we'll have free time to eat and also take a boat ride with mussel tasting.
The next stop will take place on the island of La Toja, where we'll visit its famous Chapel of the Shells, among other attractions.
After enjoying the beautiful landscapes of the island, we'll head to Cambados. There, you'll have free time to stroll around this town, the capital of Albariño wine, at your leisure.
At the end this tour of Cambados, we'll go to the island of Arousa, where you'll also have free time for a swim, a drink or a walk.
Finally, we'll return to the meeting point in Santiago de Compostela, where we'll arrive ten hours after the start time.
Boat trip with mussel tasting
If you'd prefer, you can round off your experience with a boat trip along the Rías Baixas. During this boat trip, which lasts 1 hour 15 minutes, you'll see the mussel beds where these molluscs are farmed. The boat trip also includes a mussel tasting session with a choice between local wine or soft drinks.
In April, May, June and October (the low season), the boat departs from the port of O Grove. If you're joining us in July, August or September (the high season), we'll set sail from the marina in Combarro. Those who decide not to take the boat trip will have free time in O Grove or Combarro.
Once the boat trip has finished, we'll return to Santiago de Compostela after ten hours of touring.
