Finisterre and Costa da Morte Day Trip
Description
We'll depart from the meeting point of your choice in Santiago de Compostela at the scheduled time. After traveling for around 30 minutes, we'll arrive at the picturesque village of Ponte Maceira, where you'll hear all about the history of the place and its inhabitants.
We'll then head to the coastal town of Muxia. Here you'll visit the magnificent Virxe da Barca sanctuary, which looks out over the ocean as we reveal all about local history, legends, and mysteries. During the visit to the sanctuary of Muxía, we´ll also learn about the history of the Pedras d'Abalar and Dos Cadrís.
Our route then continues along the Costa da Morte to the lighthouse of Cape Finisterre. Standing on the craggy cliffs, you'll hear various folk tales about boats that disappeared along this wild coastline which the Romans called "the end of the earth". Later, you'll have 1.5 - 2 hours of free time to have lunch in the picturesque town of Fisterra and try the delicious local food.
After eating, we'll make a stop in the village of Muros and then take a walk to the wonderful setting of the Ézaro waterfall, an amazing natural spectacle caused by the force of the Xallas River. This is the only river in Europe that ends with cascades into the ocean. To the south of this beautiful spot, in the municipality of Carnota, we'll see the world's largest hórreo (granary).
After admiring the Hórreo of Carnota, we'll head back to Santiago de Compostela through la Ría de Muros (the Estuary of Muros) and along the famous Costa da Morte.
