Santiago Tour + La Moneda Palace Changing of the Guard
Description
At the indicated time we'll meet at the Plaza de Armas to begin this free tour of Santiago. Ready to learn the history of the city?
We'll first head to the presidential seat of the Republic of Chile. We'll stop in front of the main facade of the building to watch the changing of the guard of the carabineros of the La Moneda Palace.
At the end of this event, which has been held since 1851, we'll stay in front of La Moneda to learn about its history. Did you know that this palace dates back to the colonial era? We'll also remember the coup d'état of 1973 and the death of Chilean President Salvador Allende.
We'll continue this free tour of Santiago passing by other highlights of the city, such as the Palacio de los Tribunales de Justicia. We'll also stop in front of the former National Congress, closed in 1973 by Augusto Pinochet's military government.
We'll then be very close to Plaza de Armas, where we'll discover the Inca past of the city. The route will also take us to admire the exterior of the Cathedral, and analyse its history and secrets.
Finally, after a tour of approximately 2 hours, we'll conclude the free tour at the starting point, next to the equestrian statue of Pedro de Valdivia.
Changing of the Guard
Please note that due to unforeseen circumstances outside, the changing of the guard does not take place outside of La Moneda Palace.
