Patronato and Bellavista Walking Tour
Patronato and Bellavista Walking Tour
We'll meet up at the designated time in Plaza de Armas and set off on our tour of Patronato and Bellavista.
Our first stop will be the Central Market, an elegant steel structure from the 19th century that once delineated the boundary between aristocratic and working-class Santiago.
Next, we'll venture to the northern part of the city, visiting the Mercado de la Vega, the main food market, and the Pérgola de las Flores market, the inspiration behind a famous Chilean musical in 1960.
Our journey will then lead us to the commercial hub of Patronato. This Santiago de Chile neighborhood encapsulates the essence of immigrants who sought prosperity in the capital, including Arabs, Koreans, and Palestinians. The Patronato House, constructed by Palestinians in the 20th century, serves as an architectural testament to this cultural amalgamation. We'll take a break at an Arab restaurant, enjoying a lunch featuring a main dish and a drink.
After eating, we'll continue our exploration through the vibrant streets of Bellavista, ascending to Cerro de San Cristobal. As we stroll through this Santiago de Chile neighborhood, we'll also visit La Chascona, one of the residences of Nobel Prize-winning poet Pablo Neruda.
Finally, we'll reach Plaza Camilo Mori, where we'll delve into the life and art of the expressionist painter. Our tour concludes at Patio Bellavista, the culinary heart of the neighborhood, offering an ideal endpoint after two hours of exploration.
