Isla Negra and Pomaire Trip
Isla Negra and Pomaire Trip
After collecting you from your hotel at 8 am, we will head to a stretch of idyllic coastline in central chile known as Isla Negra.
Pablo Neruda owned three homes in Chile, but his favorite was here in Isla Negra. We will visit this house, which was made to resemble a boat. Inside you will discover all kinds of nautical memorabilia, such as figureheads, sailboat replicas, tiny model boats inside ancient bottles, seashells, and whale teeth. All the objects inside this house play some role in the poetry of the Nobel Prize winner.
After learning all the secrets about Neruda's final residence, we will head behind the house to see the graves of the poet and his muse, Matilde Urrutia, on a clifftop overlooking the wild Pacific ocean.
On the way back to Santiago, we will make a stop to visit Pomaire, a small town famous for its artisan pottery. Here, you will learn all about this clay artform and admire some of the famous smooth, red-toned ceramic artworks of this region. It's here that you'll have some free time to eat in one of the restaurants in the area.
Then, to put an end to the tour with a sweet taste, we'll visit the Viña Undurraga, a winery filled with history. These pioneers of Chilean wine have dedicated their lives to the craft for more than 130 years. And we'll have the opportunity to taste the fruits of their labour!
After a full day exploring Isla Negra and Pomaire, we will start the return journey to Santiago. The tour finishes back at the same hotel from where you departed, at around 4 pm.
