Barrio Yungay Free Tour
We'll kick off our Yungay free tour inside the Quinta Normal Park metro station, right by the Museum of Memory and Human Rights. Are you ready to explore one of Santiago de Chile's most vibrant neighborhoods?
Our journey begins with a visit to the Museum of Memory and Human Rights, dedicated to commemorating the victims of the Augusto Pinochet military dictatorship. We'll then stop by the Gabriela Mistral Education Museum, a National Monument.
Next, we'll venture into Pasaje Adriana Cousiño, known for its colorful 1920s buildings. Continuing our exploration of this era, we'll visit Pasajes Lucrecia Valdes and Adriana Cousiño, two neo-Gothic style residential complexes built for Santiago de Chile's middle class.
Our tour proceeds to the Peluquería Francesa, an elegant early 20th-century building with a classic architectural facade showcasing the beauty of Yungay.
The next highlight is Plaza Yungay, home to the Monumento al Roto Chileno, a tribute to Chile's victory against Peru and Bolivia in the 1839 war. We'll also admire the Alamo Palace, a Yungay neighborhood gem designed with French mansion-inspired classical and art nouveau influences.
Our journey continues to Plaza Brasil, a lively area featuring playgrounds, restaurants, and pubs. Finally, we'll conclude in the Concha y Toro neighborhood, an architectural oasis within Greater Santiago. After a captivating 2-hour tour, we bid you farewell.
