Best of Cantabria Day Trip
Tour Description
At the indicated time, we'll begin this tour of the best of Cantabria.
Once we're all together, we'll hop on a minibus and leave the Cantabrian capital behind to make our way to the Bosque de Secuoyas redwood forest, located in Cabezón de la Sal. You'll fall in love with this natural monument as soon as you arrive, as its beauty makes it one of the most photographed postcards in the whole region.
During the hour-long visit, we'll walk along its network of paths, full of giant trees up to 40 metres (131 ft) high and 2 metres (6.5 ft) in diameter. Did you know that it is the largest sequoia forest in Spain?
Afterwards, we'll return to the minibus and drive to Comillas, a town famous for its fascinating architectural heritage. Upon arrival, we'll first visit Gaudí's Capricho, one of the most original works of the Catalan artist and also known as Villa Quijano. We'll discover this mansion from Gaudí's Orientalist period, and you'll be amazed by its artificial grottoes, beautiful gardens and carefully decorated rooms.
Without leaving Comillas, we'll take a half-hour guided tour of its historic centre to discover its main attractions, such as the sculpture of the Exterminating Angel or the fuente de los Tres Caños, the fountain of the Three Spouts.
Later, we'll travel to another of the most outstanding towns in Cantabria, Santillana del Mar. We'll stroll through the old town for an hour to see its most iconic spots, such as the Palacio de Velarde, the Torre del Merino, the Torre de Don Borja and the Collegiate Church of Santa Juliana. Afterwards, you'll have 3 hours of free time to have lunch in one of its restaurants and continue exploring Santillana del Mar at your own pace.
Finally, we'll return to the starting point and say our goodbyes after 10 hours in total.
