Vic, Rupit & Besalú Excursion
After picking you up at your hotel in Santa Susana between 8 and 9 am, we'll start a route through some of the most charming villages of Catalonia.
In a comfortable minibus, we'll first head towards Besalú, a medieval town rich in history. Upon arrival, we'll cross the famous Old Bridge of Besalú, built in the 11th century over a Roman bridge.
Making our way through the historic center of Besalú, we'll explore its medieval streets and admire its perfectly preserved façades. Along the way, we'll check out the churches of Sant Pere, Santa Maria and Sant Vicenç, which mix elements of Romanesque and Gothic architecture. Before leaving, we'll also visit the Jewish quarter to see its medieval baths.
Then, we'll leave this Girona municipality behind and head to the La Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park. On a short hiking route through this natural space, we'll see a landscape that combines forests of beech, oak and holm oak with extinct volcanoes and lava flows.
The next stop on our tour will be in Rupit, considered one of the most beautiful medieval villages in Catalonia. Here you can find stone houses built between the 16th and 17th centuries! During the visit to Rupit, you'll also have an hour of free time to have lunch in a local restaurant.
Then, we'll regroup and head to Vic, passing by Cingles de Tavertet along the way, a stunning set of cliffs that rises above the Sau valley and the Osona plain. Time for some photos! Once we arrive in Vic, we'll stroll through its Plaza Mayor and pass by Gothic buildings such as Casa Beuló, as well as more modern-style constructions like Casa Tolosa.
Before returning to Santa Susana, we'll stop at the ruins of the Palau dels Montcada. Finally, we'll finish the excursion at your hotel between 6 and 7 pm.
