Taironaka Day Trip
Taironaka Day Trip
Having picked you up from your hotel bright and early in the morning, we'll set off on a 1-hour journey to the Don Diego River. From there, we'll go on a 15-minute walk that'll take us to the Taironaka Archaeological Park. Let's walk among the remains of the ancient city of Tayrona!
We'll stroll along the trails and start exploring the archaeological remains of the Tairona people. As we make our way down the stone paths, we'll see what remains of the terraces. We'll pause in front of the remains of some staircases and discuss the way of life of the Tairona Indigenous people from the 8th century.
In addition, we'll visit the museum so you can see some original pieces of pottery. Afterwards, we'll head into the scenic Taironaka park. If we're lucky with the weather, we'll meet the Kogis, who are descendants of the Tairona. You'll then have some free time to take a dip in the Don Diego River.
While we're in the heart of Taironaka Park, we'll have a typical lunch that'll consist of churrasco (grilled beef), salad and potatoes or rice with shrimp and tostones.
After lunch, we'll return to Santa Marta. We'll then take you back to your accommodation and say your goodbyes.
