Santa Marta Sightseeing Tour
Santa Marta Sightseeing Tour
Having picked you up from your hotel, we'll kick off our sightseeing tour of Santa Marta by heading to the Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino. This hacienda is considered a Shrine of the Homeland by the Colombian government. Did you know that it was the final residence of Simón Bolívar? We'll tell you all about the history behind this place while admiring its façade.
We'll then travel along the main avenues and see some of Santa Marta's most important buildings and monuments. Next, we'll pass by the parks and colonial houses in the old town before we come to the Cathedral Basilica of Santa Marta. This is the spot where the remains of Simón Bolívar were laid to rest for a period. Today the cathedral still houses the remains of Rodrigo Bastidas, who was the founder of the city.
Our tour will then continue to Santa Marta Bay, where we'll discuss the civilizations that inhabited the region before the arrival of the Spaniards in the 16th century. We'll also visit the Pibe Valderrama Statue - let's meet one of Colombia's best football players!
The last stop on our tour will be at Taganga, a fishermen's neighbourhood located on the coast. We'll round off our activity with a stroll along the beach and enjoy the scenery from one of the famous viewpoints by the sea.
At the end of our tour, we'll drop you off back at your hotel. See you next time!
