The Lost City or Ciudad Perdida or is one of the main archaeological sites in Colombia. On this tour we'll discover the legacy of the Tayrona Indians on different hiking routes.

Lost City 4-Day Trekking Tour

Day 1

We'll leave the centre of Santa Marta towards the village of Mamey, where we'll replenish our strength with a light lunch. After lunch, we'll start our first hiking route. During the three-hour hike of approximately 8 kilometres (5.5 miles), we'll enjoy the stunning natural scenery of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.

Finally, we'll arrive at cabaña de Adán. At this camp we'll recharge our batteries with a tasty dinner and rest until the next day.

Day 2

After breakfast at the camp, we'll go on our second hiking route. This time the trek, 14 kilometres long (8.6 miles), will last eight hours. On this stretch we'll visit the indigenous village of Muntanyi. Here the inhabitants will show us their customs and traditions. After visiting this village, we'll enjoy a traditional lunch in the area and then return to our route.

We'll finish the day at cabaña de Romualdo, a camp where we'll have dinner and spend the night.

Day 3

Recharged after breakfast, we'll set off on a walk of approximately three hours over a distance of 8 kilometres (5.5 miles). The effort will be well worth it, as the Lost City awaits us at the end of the walk. We'll visit the archaeological remains of this important area, where we'll learn about the way of life of the indigenous Tayrona people who inhabited this place between 800 and 1600.

After regaining our strength with a good lunch, we'll start a new hiking route through the beautiful natural area bathed by the waters of the Buritaca River. We'll end the itinerary at cabaña de Gabriel. We'll have dinner at this camp, where we'll also rest until the next day.

Day 4

After breakfast, we'll set off on foot. The walk, which will take six hours and an average distance of 15 kilometres (9.3 miles), will take us to Mamey. After lunch in Mamey, we'll drive to Santa Marta to finish the tour.

5-day tour

If you wish, you can extend your stay by adding an extra day to the 4-day Lost City hiking activity.

In this option, on the fourth day we'll return to Adam's or Alfredo's hut at 12 pm. We'll enjoy the day at leisure in the fabulous Quebrada de Honduras, known as the swimming pool. We'll have a delicious dinner at 6 pm hours and rest until the next day.

On the fifth day, at 7 am, we'll have breakfast in the hut and then start a 3-hour hike to the Mamey region. We'll arrive at 1 pm for a delicious lunch and return to Santa Marta at 5 pm.
