Discover what it's like to live with an Indigenous group from the Colombian Caribbean on our Kogi Indigenous Community Trip. You'll leave Santa Marta behind and learn all about the Kogi's customs and traditions on this unique experience.

Description

At 7 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel. From there, we'll head into the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta's rainforest to get our adventure started.

After 2 hours on the road, we'll arrive at the village of Quebrada del Sol. When we get there, we'll have a snack and be welcomed by a guide who'll tell us about the history of this village's colonization.

Next, we'll be accompanied by our guide as we hike to the Kogi Mulkwakungui village. 1 hour later, we'll make it to the village and start learning about the tradition of the Kogi. We'll also meet the Mamo, the figure who holds the highest authority in the village.

Lunchtime! At 12:30 pm, we'll have a lunch that consists of soup, a main course, juice and fruit. After we've had something to eat, we'll go to the Don Diego River where you'll have 1 hour of free time to take a refreshing swim.

Is it 3 o'clock already? We'll hop back into our vehicle and return to Santa Marta where we'll say our goodbyes.

2-Day Trip

Are you up for even more fun? If the answer is yes, you can choose our 2-day trip to the Kogi Indigenous Community. On the first day, you'll follow the same schedule as in the activity described above. As well as this, we'll attend a chocolate-making workshop.

Afterwards, we'll have a traditional, rural-style lunch in the Quebrada del Sol village. We'll also see how the Kogi weave different handicrafts. In the middle of the afternoon, we'll head to an area with pools where you'll be able to take a dip. We'll then return to the trail to have some rest and share a delicious dinner.

Good morning! We'll have a snack to fuel up for the day and then set off on a walk to the Don Diego River. When we get there, we'll cross the river in a small raft. Once we're back on dry land, we'll visit the Arhuaco Kandumake people and learn about their customs. At 12 noon, we'll return to the village and have a tasty lunch.

Once you've gathered all your things, we'll begin our return journey to Santa Marta and drop you off at your hotel at around 5 pm.

Accommodation

The 2-day trip includes 1 night's accommodation at a cabin in the village.
