South Galapagos Islands 4-Day Cruise
South Galapagos Islands 4-Day Cruise
Day 1: Baltra Island & Santa Cruz Island
We'll pick you up from the Galapagos Islands Airport on Baltra Island on your arrival and head to the boat. We'll have a delicious lunch before setting off for Puerto Ayora, on Santa Cruz Island.
On the island, we'll visit the Charles Darwin Research Station, where we'll learn all about the conservation and study of the Galapagos.
Finally, we'll have dinner on the boat and, from Santa Cruz Island, we'll set sail for South Plaza Island.
Day 2: South Plaza & Santa Fé Islands
We'll have a delicious breakfast before we disembark on South Plaza Island, located off Santa Cruz Island. Here, we'll go on a hiking tour through the rocky paths of the island to get to know the endemic vegetation of the island. Did you know that this place has one of the largest populations of land iguanas in the Galapagos?
We'll see the peculiarities of these animals, which are a particular yellowish-brown color and larger than the usual average. We'll also pass by the cliffs admiring the swallow-tailed gulls that fly over the area, as well as frigate birds, tropical birds, and blue-footed boobies.
We'll return to the boat and enjoy a delicious lunch while sailing to Santa Fé Island, where we'll see one of the most beautiful coves in all the Galapagos. We'll disembark in this bay and go on a boat ride through the turquoise lagoon of Santa Fé. Afterward, we'll visit the huge colony of sea lions and see the iguanas that live here, which are very different from the ones in South Plaza.
Finally, we'll have dinner while sailing to Santiago Island.
Day 3: Santiago (Bartolomé Island & Sombrero Chino)
After a delicious breakfast, we'll visit Bartolomé Island. On this small islet located in front of Santiago Island, we'll find unique rock formations such as Pinnacle Rock. We'll also see sea lions, penguins, and both black and white-tip sharks here. Look out for mangroves!
We'll then return to the catamaran and, after a meal on board, we'll head to the south of Santiago Island to visit the island of Sombrero Chino. We'll take a hike here to explore this place, which was formed by volcanic activity. We'll get off our boat at a beach with fine white sand where we'll see the sea lions and rock crabs that live here. From there, we'll walk along lava trails and solidified volcanic tubes as we hear lots of fun facts about the local flora and fauna.
Lastly, we'll have a hearty dinner on board as we make our way to Mosquera Island.
Day 4: Daphne and Baltra Islands
On the last day, we'll sail around Daphne Island, made up of two volcanic islands used for scientific study. Did you know that the behaviour of Darwin's finches was studied here for 20 years?
Finally, we'll take you back to Baltra Island, where the Galapagos Islands Airport is located.
