Are you looking to visit the Galápagos islands? On this 4-day, all-inclusive cruise through the northeast of the archipelago, we'll visit the islands of Baltra, Santa Cruz, Genovesa, Bartolomé, and Santiago.
Description
Day 1: Baltra and Santa Cruz
We'll collect you from Seymour Galapagos Ecological Airport (Baltra Airport) after you touch down and head to the port via minibus. There, we'll board the boat which will take us to explore the northeast of the Galápagos Islands over the next four days.
First, we'll visit Las Bachas Beach in Santa Cruz, one of the island's main sea turtle nesting sites! During our visit, we'll walk the fine white sand beach and watch the sea turtles before arriving at the hidden lagoon, where, if we're lucky, we might get to see we may spot flamingos, storks, or curlews.
After two hours of exploring the area around Las Bachas Beach, we'll return to the boat for a marvelous dinner.
Day 2: Santa Cruz and Genovesa
After breakfast, we'll take in the sights of Genovesa from the boat, including the enormous cliffs of Prince Phillip's Steps, located in the southern part of Darwin Bay. We'll disembark in this natural enclave and climb the steep steps which will bring us to the island's peak. Here, we'll be able to enjoy the immense biodiversity of Genovesa, including Red-footed Boobies, Nazca Boobies, Storm-petrels, and Short-eared Owls.
In the evening, we'll visit Darwin's Bay and its caldera, an imposing volcano with a crater over 60 metres (196 ft) deep. This is one of the most spectacular parts of the Galápagos! There, we'll walk on solidified lava, traverse pools, explore the cliff peaks and enjoy the natural wildlife.
At the end of the day, we'll return the boat and head to our next location.
Day 3: Bartolomé and Santiago
In the morning, we'll refuel with a delicious breakfast before we visit the volcanic islet of Bartolomé, one of the youngest in the Galapagos. Here, we'll enjoy some of the wildest landscapes of the cruise, including the idyllic Pinnacle Bay and the sparse vegetation of the virgin lava fields.
Afterward, we'll head to the Sullivan Bay lava field on Santiago Island, which features sea iguanas, fur seals, sea turtles, and rays.
At the end of the day, we'll dine on the boat en route to Santa Cruz.
Day 4: Los Gemelos, El Chato Reserve and Baltra
We'll have our last breakfast on the ship and start the fourth day of the cruise. Today, we'll head to the El Chato tortoise reserve, where we'll meet the famous giant tortoises in their natural habitat! There we'll observe the unique characteristics and behaviors of the tortoises, watching them walk around the reserve, feeding time, and how they interact amongst themselves.
To conclude the day, we'll bring you to Los Gemelos, two identical volcanic craters opposite each other. This is one of the most famous sights in the Galápagos. We'll learn how these craters formed and enjoy wonderous flora and fauna native to the island.
Finally, we'll bring you back to Baltra Airport and say our goodbyes. Until next time!
