San José, Santiago de Chiqutios & Chochís 3 Day Tour
Day 1: Santa Cruz - San José
At 7 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Santa Cruz de la Sierra and set off for the Chiquitania region. This part of Bolivia is characterised by its beautiful scenery and cultural heritage. After a 3-hour drive we'll get to San José de Chiquitos, which was one of the missionary settlements founded by the Jesuits in the 17th century.
When we arrive, we'll explore the Mission Church of San José, which is the only one with a stone façade in the region. At 12 noon, we'll head to a restaurant for a typical two-course lunch.
Once we've had something to eat, we'll head to El Telar. At this handicrafts workshop, we'll be shown some Chiquitano weavings that go all the way back to the colonial period. Afterwards, the craftswomen will prepare a delicious charcoal tea in a traditional way.
Next, we'll go to a panoramic viewpoint so you can admire views of the dry forests ahead. We'll also have a coffee while watching someone make Chiquitano rice bread. At 8 pm, we'll have dinner and get some rest.
Day 2: San José - Santiago de Chiquitos - Robore
Good morning! After breakfast, we'll say goodbye to San José and head to Santiago de Chiquitos to visit the missionary church and see its wooden façade.
We'll then take a hike through the dry forests of the Tucabaca Valley and, after a break for lunch, head to Robore. You'll have some free time here to enjoy the hot springs or relax with a massage and face mask.
Following some time spent pampering ourselves, we'll return to Santiago to have dinner and go to bed.
Day 3: Chochís - Santa Cruz
At 8:30 am, we'll have breakfast and set off for Chochís. When we get to this town, which is nestled in a spectacular natural area, we'll visit the Mariano de la Torre sanctuary. This striking spot is located at the foot of the Torre del Portón monument, which is an enormous reddish rock that's become a symbol of Chochís.
Afterwards, we'll start our return journey to Santa Cruz. We'll stop for lunch on the way at the Brasileiro restaurant before arriving back at your hotel at 6 pm.
