Fort Samaipata Day Trip
Fort Samaipata Day Trip
At 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Santa Cruz de la Sierra and start our day trip to the Fort and village of Samaipata. During the drive, which will take around 2 hours 30 minutes, you'll look out at beautiful views of the mountain range known as "The Volcano".
When we arrive, we'll take a 40-minute guided tour of the archaeological site. We'll discover the pre-Columbian architecture in the ruins of the defensive, religious and esoteric buildings. In addition, we'll discuss the history of Fort Samaipata, which has belonged to the Chané, Inca and Spanish civilizations.
After our stroll, we'll go to the Samaipata Archaeological Museum, located just 12 miles (20 kilometres) from the archaeological complex. This colonial building exhibits the objects discovered during the excavations of the fort in its six rooms.
Anyone peckish? At around 1 pm, we'll take a break of 1 hour 30 minutes to have lunch in a local restaurant. We'll then start our return journey back to Santa Cruz de la Sierra, making a photo stop along the way at the Las Cuevas and El Chorro waterfalls
We'll arrive back at your hotel in Santa Cruz at around 6:30 pm.
