Santa Clara Free Walking Tour

  • 62 reviews | 1,425 travellers
You didn't go to Santa Clara, but rather you toured it with Berta. We spent a wonderful afternoon talking about history, culture, our brother Che, and much about Cuban customs. Her training as a historian is as excellent as her warmth in communicating. Excellent!

Santa Clara Free Walking Tour

At the scheduled time, we'll meet at Vidal Park to begin this free tour of Santa Clara, the perfect way to get to know the most important parts of Santa Clara.

During our tour, we'll walk around Santa Clara to discover the most fascinating stories from this landlocked Cuban city. As we'll learn more about on the tour, Santa Clara played a fundamental role in the Ten Years' War and in the Cuban Revolution. While we're here, we'll gain an insight into some of the fundamental figures in these events, such as Marta Abreu.

The tour will also take us past the La Caridad Theatre, statues of Cuban independence leaders, the Cathedral of Santa Clara de Asis, and the park which houses the Monument to the Seizure of the Armored Train. This historical episode, driven by Ernesto Ché Guevara, would put an end to the Fulgencio Batista Regime. We'll dive into the details of this event as we make our way toward the Che Guevara Mausoleum in Plaza Che Guevara.

On the final stretch of this free tour, we'll head into the Café Museo Revolución, a unique exhibition in the middle of a traditional tavern, before learning a bit about creative expression and the promotion of local art in the El Mejunje cultural centre

We'll end our free tour of Santa Clara near to the starting point after about 3 hours of activity.
