San Salvador Tour from the Airport
San Salvador Layover Tour
We'll be waiting for you at the arrivals bridge at the El Salvador International Airport, and from here, we'll travel to San Salvador for a guided tour of the city.
Firstly, we'll stop at the Armed Forces Military Museum, a building with 14 rooms with over 35000 artefacts ranging from canons and coins to helicopters that will tell us about the city's past.
On the way out, we'll walk through the city centre to see Libertad Square, the oldest square in the city. We'll also visit Rosario Church, inside which you'll see a unique design created by the artist Rubén Martínez. We'll also see the Plaza Morazan, Plaza Barrios, the new National Library (admission subject to the authorities), and other relevant points of the renovated capital.
From here, we'll travel to the Monseñor Romero memorial, a fundamental figure during the 80s thanks to his work promoting peace in the country.
Afterwards, we'll take a panoramic tour to admire the capital in all its glory, including Plaza Salvador del Mundo or the Zona Rosa neighbourhood. To top off this experience, we'll stop at a local restaurant to enjoy a dish of pupusas, a local delicacy consisting of rice or corn tortillas filled with cheese, beans or pork.
Finally, we'll return to the airport, where we'll arrive after 4-6 hours, depending on the length of your layover.
Layover times
It takes 90 minutes to travel between the Airport and the city centre, and you should be at the airport 2 hours before your departing flight. Therefore, you should have a layover of at least 7.5 hours to be able to enjoy this tour.
