Calilegua National Park Tour
Having picked you up from your hotel in San Salvador de Jujuy at the indicated time, we'll set off to the north in the direction of Calilegua National Park, approximately two and a half hours away.
During the journey, we'll pass the cities of San Pedro de Jujuy and Libertador General San Martin, and our guide will reveal the importance of sugar cane in this area and the history of the colonial haciendas where it was harvested.
Reaching Calilegua National Park, we'll get out of the vehicle and begin to learn all about the nature reserve, its history, and the different plants and wildlife it's home to. Do you know what yungas are? You'll find out on the tour!
This national park, which has been protected since 1979, is home to more than 120 types of trees, numerous kinds of ferns, and over 400 different species of mammals and birds. Amongst the most emblematic wildlife in the park are toucans, tapirs, coatis, and jaguars.
We'll continue the route to the Mesada de las Colmenas area, where we'll soak up its beautiful landscapes at 1,900 meters (6,234 feet) above sea level, an ideal altitude to admire the area's stunning natural beauty.
Afterward, you'll have a few minutes free to have lunch with the food you brought with you. Finally, we'll start the return transfer to San Salvador de Jujuy. After about 400 kilometers, you'll arrive at your hotel, where you're scheduled to arrive 11 hours after pickup.
