Tour Highlights
We'll pick you up at your hotel in Tucumán at the indicated time and head south to Santiago del Estero. This town is one of the oldest cities in northwestern Argentina and one of the most prominent of the former Viceroyalty of La Plata.
As soon as we arrive at the so-called Mother of Cities, we'll start a tour of Santiago del Estero, where we'll pass by emblematic places of the town, such as the Plaza de la Libertad (Liberty Square). In this esplanade, we'll contemplate the cathedral of Nuestra Señora del Carmen and the Cultural Center of the Bicentennial, former Cabildo.
The next stop will be the church of Santo Domingo, which houses a Holy Shroud, one of the prominent relics of northwestern Argentina. Do you know how this Shroud came to South America? After learning about its history, we'll go to a restaurant where you can buy some lunch if you wish.
After lunch, we'll go to the outskirts of Santiago del Estero to visit the famous patio of Indio Froilán. This renowned luthier will show us how he makes his musical instruments, among which the bombo legüero (bass drum) stands out.
At the end of the visit to the patio, we'll start our way back. During the trip, we'll make a brief stop in Termas de Río Hondo to visit its waterfront, the Central Dam, and the shopping center.
We'll conclude the excursion at your hotel in Tucumán, where we'll arrive after a total of 10 hours.
