Discover the best-kept secrets of Lake Lácar with this excursion that will take you to the spectacular Yuco peninsula and the Chachín waterfall.
Day Trip to Yuco, Chachín Waterfall & Hua Hum
We'll collect you from your hotel in downtown San Martín de los Andes at 2 pm before we head northwest towards the Neuquén province. While passing through the Valdivian rainforest, one of the country's wettest regions, we'll take the opportunity to familiarize ourselves with the plant species in the Lanín National Park.
Continuing our journey along Provincial Route 48, we'll reach Trompul, a rural area mainly inhabited by the Curruhuinca Mapuche community. Here, we'll visit the Piedra de Trompul, a remarkable rock that stands alone, with the sun's rays naturally forming a modeled face. The views of Lake Lácar and the Chapelco and Abanico mountains from here are truly breathtaking.
Next, we'll head to the stunning Yuco peninsula, known for its beauty and characterized by a couple of small bays with volcanic sand, surrounded by a forest of myrtle trees that are reflected in its emerald waters.
Our final destination is Hua Hum, located on the border between Argentina and Chile in the northwest area of Lake Lácar. The Christ of Peace, a statue carved in rauli wood by artisans from Easter Island, is a sight to behold here. After a short hike, we'll arrive at the Chachin waterfall, one of the most breathtaking waterfalls in the area. This 30-meter (100-foot) waterfall in the heart of the Valdivian rainforest is a perfect end to our jam-packed day trip.
Finally, we'll return to the center of San Martín de los Andes around 7 pm to drop you back off at your hotel.
