Armadillo Ghost Town Hiking Tour
Armadillo Ghost Town Hiking Tour
We'll pick you up at 8:30 am at your hotel in San Luis Potosi and drive to Armadillo de los Infante. This name comes from the surname Infante, belonging to the family that brought the first printing press to the town.
During the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, this municipality witnessed a period of great splendour. However, at the beginning of the 20th century, the echoes of the Mexican Revolution reached the state of San Luis Potosí and, as a result of this revolt, Armadillo became a ghost town. Would you like to discover its remains?
We'll embark on a 9.7-kilometre (6 miles) hiking route on which we'll discover the abandoned buildings and monuments of Armadillo. On this simple hike, in which we'll cross several stretches between 134 and 148 metres (436 and 485 feet), we'll uncover the forgotten history of the town.
At the end of the hiking route we'll go to the 1600 Restaurante. There you'll be able to recharge your batteries with delicious dishes of the Potosí gastronomy, which perfectly combines pre-Columbian and colonial cuisine.
After lunch we'll return to your hotel in San Luis Potosi, where we'll arrive at 5:30 pm.
