Sierra Zonda Private Horse Ride
Options
When making the reservation, you must choose one of the following two options:
Quebrada de Zonda Tour (3.5 hours)
We will collect you from your hotel at 9 am or 3 pm (according to the chosen option) and climb into a 4x4 vehicle to head east. After traveling for 30 minutes, we arrive at the tourist and adventure park of the Quebrada de Zonda (Zonda Gorge).
We climb out of the vehicle and put on our horseriding helmets. Then you will learn the basic techniques for riding safely before we mount these wonderful creatures. Once you are up on the back of the horse we will head into the rocky landscapes.
The horse ride lasts for two hours, during which you will enjoy stunning views of Cerro Bola, an inactive volcano. We will also stop to admire the famous petroglyphs of Huarpe, amazing rock art which dates back more than 5,000 years.
After our tour through the Quebrada de Zonda, we will climb back into the 4x4 vehicle and return you to your hotel in San Juan.
Lastenia Mine and Sierras Azules Viewpoint Tour (8 hours)
If you choose this option, we will collect you from your hotel at 8 am and head into the heart of the Sierra Zonda. Once we arrive at the starting point for the horse rides, you will learn the basic riding techniques before we saddle up for our adventure.
The 5-hour journey will take us to some of the highlights of these mountains. You will see Lastenia, a fascinating abandoned mine. You will discover amazing petroglyphic wall art which dates back thousands of years. You will also admire spectacular views across the Sierras Azules from a viewpoint.
Picnic lunch
Both options of the Sierra Zonda horse ride include a picnic lunch. This consists of a 'picada criolla' a selection of sausages, tuna, paté, dried tomatoes, regional sweets, and fruit. All accompanied by wine and water.
