Caracol Trip
We will pick you up at 7 a.m at your hotel and then leave San Ignacio behind. For the next two hours, we will drive through the jungle, discovering small Mayan villages along the way. Finally, we will arrive at the archaeological site of Caracol, the largest ancient Mayan city in Belize!
We will walk along the paths that connect the different areas of Caracol. We will stop in front of the Temple of Caana, which at almost 140 feet high is the tallest in the country. During the tour of the pre-Columbian remains, we will relive the way of life for the 180,000 inhabitants of the Mayan city.
As we hike towards Pine Ridge Mountain, we will encounter wonderful species native to the region such as the tapir. We will enjoy a picnic lunch of sandwiches, juice, and fruit before continuing to the On Pools River, which is comprised of natural wells. We will also visit the Cold River Cave, which is a staggering 65 feet.
Then, we make our way back to San Ignacio and accompany you back to your accommodation where the excursion concludes at 5 pm approx.
