Chicamocha River Rafting
Description
On the day of the activity, we'll meet at Cra. 10 in San Gil to head to the Chicamocha River. We'll cross the landscape of the Santander region, and after around 1.5 hours we'll arrive at our destination - one of the most important rivers in central Colombia.
Upon arrival, we'll receive a brief introduction from our instructor. We'll put on our safety gear and get into our boats. We'll paddle our way through the waters, and during the ride, we'll have unique views of the Chicamocha Canyon - a site which was nominated in 2012 to be one of the seven Natural Wonders of the World.
For 2 to 3 hours we'll drive our boats through stretches of continuous rapids. We'll feel the rush as we fly down this 15-kilometre (9-mile) stretch of the Chicamocha River.
On board our boats, we'll enter the so-called regional coffee forest, and enjoy an unbeatable view of the lush plantations that fill the river banks. As we venture deeper into the heart of the canyon, we'll discover an old colonial village, before stopping for a dip in the refreshing waters of the Chicamocha.
After the activity, we'll refuel with a traditional lunch, before concluding the day after 6-7 hours of activity.
