On this guided tour of Balboa Park, we'll visit one of San Diego's most treasured landmarks. We'll stroll through the gardens, admire their architectural treasures and learn about their history.

Description

At the scheduled time, we'll meet at the designated meeting point and begin our walk through Balboa Park. Founded in 1868 by Alonzo Horton, who contributed 1,400 acres (566 hectares) of land for its creation, Balboa Park has been the site of many significant events throughout its history. During our tour, we'll explore these important moments and discover the rich heritage of the park.

One of our first stops will be at the California Tower, which was built for the Panama-California Exposition of 1915. We'll continue the tour with a visit to the Alcazar Garden, inspired by Spanish gardens of the same name.

From here, we'll walk along El Prado, the main thoroughfare of the park. In this section of the park, we'll enjoy the facades of some unique buildings as well as Zoro Gardens, the butterfly garden of Balboa Park. Our next stop will be the Spanish Village Art Centre, where we'll see artists working on their latest pieces.

Then, we'll take a refreshing coffee break in the park before continuing our tour. Next, we'll visit the Botanical Building, which was the largest wooden lattice structure in the world when it was built for the 1915 Exposition

Finally, we'll reach the Plaza de Panama and conclude our guided tour of Balboa Park after two hours of sightseeing.
