The Monastery of Sant Cugat houses one of the most beautiful Romanesque cloisters in the province of Barcelona. You can learn about its history and the details of its architecture with this ticket, which includes an audio guide with two thematic tours of the monument.
Why visit the Monastery of Sant Cugat?
The Monastery of Sant Cugat, located in the historic center of Sant Cugat del Vallès in the province of Barcelona, is one of the greatest examples of medieval art in Catalonia.
With this ticket, you can explore the entire monastic complex at your leisure, whose origins date all the way back to the 9th century. The entrance ticket also includes an audio guide in English that you can listen to on your own mobile phone.
The explanations of the audio guide will accompany you on two different tours. The first is called "Feel the voice of the monastery" and will allow you to learn about the history of one of the most important Benedictine abbeys in the province of Barcelona. This itinerary includes the entrance to the monastery church, where you'll admire its treasures and appreciate how the Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque styles converge.
The second tour is "The book of medieval stone" and includes access to the monastery's famous Romanesque cloister. There you'll get to see and interpret the meaning of a selection of 31 capitals. As if they were the pages of a book, these upper parts of the columns narrate the customs of the Benedictine monks and even passages from the Bible.
