Make the most of your time in San Cristobal de las Casas with our private day trips to the most beautiful areas in Chiapas. These tours last between 4.5 and 18 hours and include hotel pick-up, minibus transport and an exclusive English speaking guide.

Check out the itineraries of each tour below:

San Juan Chamula & Zinacantán (4.5 hours)

Discover the historic town of San Juan Chamula and its deep-rooted pre-Hispanic traditions and culture. We'll visit the main church, where you'll see that ancestral rites are still performed here and there are no benches to sit on. We'll also explore the local market. Afterwards, we will visit Zinacantán, a village full of stories, secrets and decorated with thousands of flowers. There we'll get to taste a sugar cane drink called posh and learn about the importance of the pre-Columbian backstrap loom.

Time: departure at 9:30 am.

Toniná & El Corralito Waterfall (12 hours)

With this excursion, we'll visit the archaeological site of Toniná, where we'll see an enormous pyramid structure with a façade measuring 320 metres. We'll get to learn about the important military role played by this ancient village, as well as exploring the ball game court that leads to a sacrificial altar. The tour also includes access to the museum, where you can learn what the ancient people who lived here believed about the creation of the universe. Afterwards, we'll enter the heart of the Chiapas jungle to discover the El Corralito Waterfall, a set of natural pools and waterfalls reminiscent of paradise.

Time: departure at 6 am.

Sima de las Cotorras & El Aguacero Waterfall (15 hours)

This day trip will take you to visit the Sima de las Cotorras, a natural chasm that measures 140 metres deep and is home to a completely different tropical ecosystem to the one on the surface. The canyon is named for the parrots that enter and exit the hole with a unique way of flying in circles! Afterwards, we will go to the El Oceote Biosphere Reserve to reach the El Aguacero Waterfall, a 75-metre-tall waterfall nestled in a steep canyon. The itinerary will be similar to the group tour to Sima de las Cotorras and El Aguacero Waterfall

Departure time: 4 am.

Lagos de Colón & El Lagartero (10 hours)

The Lagos de Colón are a series of natural lagoons with crystal-clear water where you can find lianas, lotus flowers and centenary trees. You'll have time here to enjoy a dip in the natural pools. But the experience doesn't end here, as you'll also find El Lagartero, a Mayan city known for its four pyramids and its discovery of jewels with more than 600 years of history. This tour follows a similar route to the tour to the Lagos de Colón and El Lagartero

Time: departure at 8 am.

Lagunas de Montebello & El Chiflón Waterfall (12 hours)

With this day trip, you'll have the opportunity to visit the Montebello, Cinco Lagos, Pokok and Tziscao lagoons, all of them belonging to the Lagunas de Montebello National Park, a natural environment in the municipality of La Trinitaria. Afterwards, we'll head to the San Vicente River to admire the dazzling turquoise blue waters of the 120-metre-tall El Chiflón Waterfall. Next to this waterfall, you'll also get to admire other smaller waterfalls including El Suspiro, Ala de Ángel, Velo de Novia and Quinceañera.

Time: departure at 8 am.

Agua Azul Waterfall & Palenque (18 hours)

On this trip to the Agua Azul Waterfall, you'll be enchanted by its unique colour caused by karst rock erosion and by the beauty of a unique plant and wildlife reserve in Chiapas. Then we'll head towards the Mayan archaeological site of Palenque, stopping on the way to see the hidden waterfall of Misol-Ha. Once at the ruins, we'll see temples, ball game courts, civil buildings, an aqueduct and ancient art including masks and paintings. Did you know that not even 2% of the surface of this site has been discovered? It's truly awe-inspiring!

Time: departure at 4 am.
