Agua Azul, Misol-Há & Palenque Tour
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in San Cristóbal de las Casas, setting off northeast towards the city of Ocosingo. Along the way we'll make a stop so you can have breakfast before reaching our destination.
From here, we'll head north to the Agua Azul Waterfalls, an impressive biosphere reserve whose water is a striking turquoise color. Here, you'll have 45 minutes of free time to bathe in the natural pools formed by the falls, and relax in the beautiful surroundings.
Continuing onwards, we'll reach Misol-Há waterfall, a spectacular waterfall consisting of a 115-foot (35 metre) tall cascade in the midst of the lush tropical jungle. These mythical landscapes were the filming locations for Arnold Schwarzenegger's Predator.
Next up, we'll head to the Palenque Archaeological Site, the highlight of our day trip. As we make our way here, we'll make an additional stop for lunch.
Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the ruins of the ancient Mayan city date back to 226 BC and are home to some best-known art and architecture created by the Mayas. There, we'll visit the Temples of the Skull, the Palace, the Ball Game, the Temple of the Inscriptions, among others.
We'll set off on a guided tour of Palenque and afterward you'll have an hour free time to explore the site at your own pace.
Then, we'll make the return journey to the centre of San Cristóbal de las Casas, arriving back around 18 hours later.
