Between 7:00 and 8:00 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Samaná and drive to the capital of the Dominican Republic. Santo Domingo awaits!
After a 3-hour drive, we'll reach our destination and set off on a guided tour of Santo Domingo. Did you know that the history of the city goes back 500 years? To begin, we'll visit the Cathedral of Santa María la Menor, which is the oldest cathedral in the Americas.
Our journey into the past will then continue through the Plaza de España, where we'll see the Alcázar de Colón. We'll head inside this spectacular building, which was the former residency of Diego Colón. From here, we'll stroll to the National Pantheon, where the remains of some of the Dominican Republic's most illustrious figures are laid to rest.
The next stop on our guided tour of Santo Domingo will be the Royal Palace, which is also known as the Museum of Royal Houses. This historic place is on the prestigious list of Cultural Monuments of Dominican History.
To round off our tour, we'll visit the Columbus Lighthouse, where some believe the remains of Christopher Columbus rest. Finally, we'll visit the Presidential Palace, which is a set of neoclassical architecture that'll leave you speechless.
Having finished our guided tour, we'll head to a local restaurant to have a delicious, traditional Dominican lunch. Once you've eaten, you'll have 1 hour of free time to continue exploring the city.
We'll then return to Samaná and finish the tour between 6:30 and 6:45 pm.
