Bavarian Alps Trip
At the indicated time, we'll depart from Hubert-Sattler-Gasse 1 in Salzburg, and head to the bucolic spots of the southwestern corner of Bavaria where Germany borders Austria and the Czech Republic.
Once we're deep into German territory, we'll make our first stop in the mountainous area of Obersalzberg. This pleasant corner of the Bavarian Alps was a preferred holiday retreat for Adolf Hitler. The leader spent long periods in the Berghof residence which was located among these mountains.
We'll continue the tour, crossing the green alpine meadows of the Berchtesgaden National Park which is a natural treasure of Bavaria. We'll stop on the banks of the Königssee lake, the “king's lake" so that you can take in the majestic beauty of this setting. Among the immense rugged peaks of the Bavarian Alps reflected in the water, some red domes will catch your attention. These form part of St. Bartholomew's Church which is located on the shore of the lake.
To get a taste of what life is like in alpine Germany, we'll visit the picturesque town of Berchtesgaden. The lush green valleys and the snow-capped mountain tops, contrast sharply with the ochre tones of the traditional houses of this region, resulting in a striking landscape that will leave you enchanted.
After a brief period of free time in which you can take a stroll around the tranquil Berchtesgaden, we'll head back to Salzburg. Arrival at the starting point is scheduled for 4 hours after pickup.
