Discover the stunning natural beauty of Senegal's Saloum Delta when you take our brilliant tour from Saly. You will also have an exciting motorized canoe ride along the water during which you will spot an amazing variety of birds that inhabit the area.
Saloum Delta Private Tour
We will collect you from your hotel in Saly before heading to the south of Senegal towards the Saloum Delta National Park. After traveling for around an hour and a half, we will reach the traditional fishing village of Ndangane. Here, we park the vehicle and climb into a motorized canoe which will take us deep into the protected wilderness area which is UNESCO recognized World Heritage Site.
We will sail along the calm waters of the Sine and Saloum rivers which feed the Delta. During our journey you will see pretty salt marshes, canals, and mangrove swamps. If we are lucky we may also spot amazing birds such as pelicans, herons, cormorants, and kingfishers.
Later we will stop at one of the restaurants in the parkland area, where you will have your own time to have a delicious traditional meal (not included). After you have rested and recuperated, we will visit a tribal village inhabited by the Niominka people, an ethnic group which lives along the banks of the delta and whose livelihood depends on fishing.
Once we have learned all about the ancient traditions and customs of these people, we will start our return journey to Saly.
