Between 6:30 and 8:00 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in central Salvador da Bahia. At 9 am, we'll set off on our tour of the historic centre of a fascinating city that's bursting with a mix of different cultures.
The first stop on our tour will be at the iconic lighthouse in the Barra neighbourhood, which is one of the most visited areas in Brazil's original capital. Did you know that this is the site where the city's independnece was declared?
Next, we'll head to Pelourinho. Although historically, this famous district was an upper-class residential neighborhood, it was also a place where slaves were punished during the colonial era. However, after the abolition of slavery, it became a bohemian magnet for artists, turning the district into a cultural hub.
While we're in the historic centre, we'll also see the Praça da Sé and the monumental architectural ensemble of Terreiro de Jesus, which was established by the Jesuits. In addition, we'll see the Church of São Pedro dos Clérigos and the Church of São Domingos Gusmão. As we visit these places, we'll learn about their historic and cultural significance in Salvador da Bahia.
At 1 pm, we'll return to your hotel and say our goodbyes.
